lost eagle
tracks talon prints
on the grey cloud trail
on the grey cloud trail
between thunderclaps
murmuring wings
murmuring wings
in a flash of light
the colour of fear
the colour of fear
against the grey
lost eagle

There’s no experience much more frightening than being lost, whether for eagle or human.

These chain haiku not my favourite form, I’ll admit, but here polished off with style. I do sometimes wonder why people repeat their verses after the image, as I feel this lessens and even destroys the experience….just a heartfelt opinion…!

Thank you Hamish. My understanding is that there are two reasons that make it practical – text embedded in the image doesn’t render well on some smaller devices and also is not accessible to screen reader software….suggestions / more info welcome.

Oh I never thought about that – worth checking out and of course a serious issue if one imagines people looking at posts on their way or coming back to and from work.

I enjoyed the linking, however, the aspect of fear threw me off, for usually eagles are interpreted as quite fearless birds
Much love…

I like your chained haiku story .. the eagle hunts in all elements … is the eagle lost or has it wisely gone to its nest .. a question without an answer.

Thank you… guess we’ll never know how many are lost, how many are found and how many make sure they are never found!!
