crack open this poem,
smash it to quivering bits,
burn its words,
drown its perfidious voice;
see how it cries,
while my dreamless eyes pray dry,
how its tongue contorts, bones
wrapped around its faceless head;
your
surrogate silence
twisted black
into soulful lies.
Unexpected and arresting.

This is fierce…in a good way. I do believe that silence can be equivalent to lies.

I do like the opening up of the poem, the exposing of our words at times. Much to think about in this poem.

Don’t those words betray us, never quite there when we need them, all lies? A poem which can be interpreted in multiple ways, a darker tone there than one might expect from the prompt.

Like walnuts under a sledgehammer seeking the meat and finding a husk drained by insects. A strident and unapologetic tribute to the power of words.

Oh this is so good, thot. There are times when we have such a love-hate relationship with our poetry. Dreamless eyes pray dry–yep.
