press this night
between the pages of your book,
like a phantom rose,
dry moonbeams
tracing brittle contours
of fleeting stars,
light that will crumble at a touch,
the faint suggestion of a lost fragrance,
an epitaph to a love
that blossomed too soon.
I suspect that many loves bloom too soon…

Beautiful! What a lovely concept, to press this memory between the pages of a book, like a flower.

Oh, pressed flowers! Even as a little girl, I though there was something so sad about them, like they were ghosts of their former selves. Thank you for this.

~ Awee, that’s too bad. There are things that were meant to remain just a bittersweet memory… Lovely piece. 🙂

I love the thought of pressing nights between the pages of someone’s book. An epitaph to a love that blossomed too soon – sadness in this and wistfulness yet so very romantic in the thoughts of it.

Thanks so much. Because of the time difference, the prompt gets published midnight my time, so it’s late by the time I get around to linking my poem. Appreciate your help greatly!

I love the image of capturing the images, the moonbeam of the night… I think you have captured so much more than the petals of a rose in my book.
