memory,
like a stranger
nodding through the window
at a traffic light,
a half smile
travels along till the next turn-

all that’s left of us.

  1. Such a resonant poem – all the more sharp for being 140 characters – it tells such a bigger story…at once personal and universal…sometimes memory is indeed all we have left…

  2. Memory is so very elusive… Your poem illustrates this fact so well. Reading it, I felt like reaching out to catch the stranger, to remember that which is just there… on the tip of my mind’s tongue…

  3. Oh yes, a stranger nodding through the window….memory is indeed sometimes just like that!
Great ‘poetweet.’ Hard to do one and have it be meaningful. You succeeded.

  4. Looking in and looking out, another mirroring that I wish I had thought of. Driving by and loving, seeing the past through the present–and standing still as the parade goes by. Same thing, yes?
    Evocative poem.

love those lines … this piece much like the direction, I went in with my poem. A really touching and evocative bit of writing that I was quite moved by.
